Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Mix in sour cream until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  8. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  9. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the batter.
  10. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
