Description

Baked Italian Sub Sandwiches are warm, melty, and loaded with layers of savory deli meats, gooey cheese, and tangy Italian dressing — baked until golden for the ultimate crowd-pleasing comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 4 sub rolls or hoagie buns
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 8 slices salami
  • 8 slices pepperoni
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced banana peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Italian dressing
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice each sub roll in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through, keeping them hinged like a book.
  3. Brush the inside of each roll lightly with Italian dressing.
  4. Layer each sandwich with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Add banana peppers, onions, and olives (if using) on top of the meats and cheese.
  6. Close the sandwiches and brush the tops with melted butter mixed with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  7. Wrap each sandwich loosely in foil and place them on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasty.
  9. Remove from oven, unwrap, and drizzle with extra Italian dressing if desired.
  10. Slice in half and serve warm with chips, salad, or fries.

Notes

  • Use ciabatta rolls or French bread for a heartier sandwich base.
  • For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes or hot giardiniera before baking.
  • These sandwiches can be prepped ahead and baked right before serving — perfect for parties or game days.
