- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 cups buttercream frosting
- Food coloring (optional, for bows and frosting)
- Fondant or modeling chocolate for bows
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost each cake layer with buttercream, stack them, and cover the entire cake with frosting.
- Shape fondant or modeling chocolate into bows and place them on top or around the cake as decoration.
- Chill slightly before serving for clean slices.
Notes
- Fondant bows can be prepared a day in advance to firm up.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant bow colors without altering texture.
- For extra flavor, add a layer of jam or chocolate ganache between the cake layers.
