Description

Cajun Firecracker Chicken & Cheddar is a bold, spicy, and cheesy dish bursting with Southern flavor. Tender pieces of chicken are seasoned with Cajun spices, pan-seared to perfection, and smothered in a creamy cheddar sauce that packs just the right amount of heat.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  5. Lower the heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy cheese sauce.
  7. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the chicken.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley and serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat level by increasing or decreasing the Cajun seasoning or cayenne pepper.
  • For a smokier flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke or smoked paprika.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with garlic bread or roasted vegetables.
