Description

A smooth, creamy, and cheesy sauce perfect for drizzling over crispy fries or using as a dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk and cream until smooth, cooking until slightly thickened.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve warm over fries or as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use processed cheese (like Velveeta) for an even smoother texture.
  • For a spicy kick, add chopped jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • Best served immediately while warm.
  • If sauce thickens too much, whisk in a splash of milk to loosen.
