Description
A crowd-pleasing casserole made with crispy French fries layered in a rich, cheesy sauce and baked until bubbly and golden.
Ingredients
- 1 bag (28 oz / 800 g) frozen French fries
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Cooking spray or oil for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a casserole dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned; drain excess fat.
- Season beef with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- In a bowl, mix cream soup with milk until smooth.
- Spread cooked beef evenly into the prepared casserole dish.
- Pour soup mixture over the beef and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
- Arrange frozen French fries evenly over the cheese layer.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until fries are crispy and cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- Use seasoned fries for extra flavor.
- Add cooked bacon bits for a loaded version.
- Serve immediately for best crispiness.
