  • 2 cups canned cherries in syrup, drained (reserve syrup)
  • 1/2 cup cherry syrup
  • 2 cups chocolate pudding or custard
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup grated dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (optional)
  • Fresh cherries for garnish


Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate cake cubes in a bowl and drizzle with cherry syrup and kirsch, allowing them to soak for 5 minutes.
  2. In a trifle dish, begin with a layer of soaked cake cubes.
  3. Add a layer of cherries over the cake.
  4. Spoon a layer of chocolate pudding or custard over the cherries.
  5. Add a generous layer of whipped cream.
  6. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, finishing with whipped cream.
  7. Top with grated dark chocolate and fresh cherries.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
