Description

A crunchy, buttery toffee treat layered with saltine crackers and topped with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating that tastes just like churros.


Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Arrange saltines in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Quickly pour toffee mixture over the saltines and spread evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until bubbling.
  7. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over hot toffee.
  9. Let cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy.
