Description
A soft, fluffy cake swirled with buttery cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet glaze, just like a cinnamon roll in cake form.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed (for filling)
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 5 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
- Stir in milk, eggs, and vanilla, then mix in melted butter until smooth. Pour batter into prepared dish.
- For the filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a paste. Drop spoonfuls over the batter and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- For the glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm cake.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Best served warm with extra glaze drizzled on top.
- Can be stored covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated for 4 days.
- Try adding chopped pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.
