Description
Flavorful Mediterranean-spiced ground beef tucked into soft pita pockets with fresh veggies and a creamy yogurt tahini sauce—quick, healthy, and perfect for weeknights.
Ingredients
- 4 pita pockets
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional but traditional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup cucumber, diced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Yogurt Tahini Sauce:
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium. Add diced onion and cook until softened.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, oregano, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Whisk together Greek yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to make the sauce.
- Warm pita pockets in a dry skillet or microwave.
- Fill each pita with seasoned beef, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and parsley.
- Drizzle generously with yogurt tahini sauce and serve.
Notes
- Swap beef for ground lamb or turkey.
- Add hummus to the pita for extra creaminess.
- Top with feta for added richness.
- Make spicy by adding chili flakes or harissa.
