Description

A sweet and spicy pizza topped with savory sausage, creamy ricotta, melted mozzarella, and a drizzle of hot honey. This easy homemade pizza delivers bold flavor with minimal effort, perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) pizza sauce
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 pound (225g) Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 3/4 cup (180g) ricotta cheese
  • 12 tablespoons hot honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
  4. Transfer dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel. Brush edges lightly with olive oil.
  5. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
  7. Top with cooked sausage and dollops of ricotta cheese.
  8. Sprinkle with oregano, salt, and red pepper flakes if using.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from oven and drizzle with hot honey. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of spice by adding more or less hot honey and red pepper flakes.
  • For extra crispiness, pre-bake the crust for 3–4 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Use whole milk ricotta for a richer texture.
