Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) pizza dough
- 1/2 cup (120ml) pizza sauce
- 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 pound (225g) Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 3/4 cup (180g) ricotta cheese
- 1–2 tablespoons hot honey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel. Brush edges lightly with olive oil.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
- Top with cooked sausage and dollops of ricotta cheese.
- Sprinkle with oregano, salt, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and drizzle with hot honey. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust the level of spice by adding more or less hot honey and red pepper flakes.
- For extra crispiness, pre-bake the crust for 3–4 minutes before adding toppings.
- Use whole milk ricotta for a richer texture.
