Description

French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a fun and easy twist on the classic French Dip sandwich — filled with tender roast beef, melted cheese, and caramelized onions, rolled in tortillas, baked until crispy, and served with warm au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

    • 4 large flour tortillas
    • 400g thinly sliced roast beef
    • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
    • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

For the Au Jus Dip:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until caramelized (about 8–10 minutes). Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and set aside.
  3. Lay tortillas flat and evenly layer roast beef, caramelized onions, and shredded cheese down the center of each.
  4. Roll each tortilla tightly and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare the au jus dip: in a small saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper. Bring to a simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove roll ups from oven, let cool slightly, then slice in half if desired.
  9. Serve warm with a bowl of au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Use deli-style roast beef for convenience or leftover homemade roast beef for a richer flavor.
  • Add a touch of horseradish or spicy mustard inside for extra kick.
  • To make them air fryer-friendly, cook at 190°C (375°F) for 6–8 minutes, turning halfway through.
