Description

Frosted Coffee Brownies are rich, fudgy brownies infused with espresso flavor and topped with a silky coffee buttercream frosting — the perfect treat for coffee and chocolate lovers alike.


Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
    • 170g (6 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoons brewed espresso or strong coffee
    • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Coffee Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in both sugars, eggs, vanilla, and espresso until glossy and combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Add to the chocolate mixture and stir until just combined — do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 22–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Let brownies cool completely before frosting.
  7. To make the frosting: beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well between additions.
  8. Add coffee, vanilla, and a pinch of salt, beating until light and fluffy.
  9. Spread the frosting evenly over cooled brownies, then cut into squares.
  10. Optional: dust with cocoa powder or drizzle with melted chocolate before serving.
