Description

Tender pan-seared Irish-style steaks served with a rich and velvety whiskey cream sauce made with garlic, butter, and herbs for a bold and comforting dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Irish whiskey
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steaks and sear for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the pan and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet.
  5. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Carefully pour in the whiskey and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes to cook off the alcohol.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Let the sauce simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  9. Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Simmer for 1–2 minutes to warm through.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a good-quality Irish whiskey for the best flavor.
  • Let steaks rest for 5 minutes before serving to retain juices.
  • The sauce pairs well with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
  • You can substitute sirloin with filet mignon or strip steak.
