A comforting homestyle dish featuring savory hamburger gravy made with ground beef and onions, served generously over creamy mashed potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste (for potatoes)


Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Drain potatoes and mash with butter and milk until smooth; season with salt and keep warm.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
  4. Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well; cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  7. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  8. Simmer gravy for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  9. Spoon hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey as a lighter alternative.
  • Add mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
