Description
A comforting homestyle dish featuring savory hamburger gravy made with ground beef and onions, served generously over creamy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt to taste (for potatoes)
Instructions
- Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain potatoes and mash with butter and milk until smooth; season with salt and keep warm.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
- Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well; cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Simmer gravy for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Spoon hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes and serve hot.
Notes
- Use ground turkey as a lighter alternative.
- Add mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
- Leftovers reheat well the next day.
