Description
A sweet, spicy, and savory chicken bowl featuring crispy chicken bites tossed in hot honey sauce, served over fluffy rice with fresh veggies for a balanced meal.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to spice preference)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 cups cooked white rice
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1 cup sliced cucumbers
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Dredge chicken pieces in flour mixture and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, and butter. Simmer until melted and combined.
- Toss fried chicken in hot honey sauce until well coated.
- Assemble bowls with rice, broccoli, cucumbers, and carrots. Top with hot honey chicken.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Bake or air fry chicken for a lighter version.
- Adjust hot sauce to make it more or less spicy.
- Try quinoa or cauliflower rice as a base for a healthier bowl.
