Description

A sweet, spicy, and savory chicken bowl featuring crispy chicken bites tossed in hot honey sauce, served over fluffy rice with fresh veggies for a balanced meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to spice preference)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Dredge chicken pieces in flour mixture and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, and butter. Simmer until melted and combined.
  6. Toss fried chicken in hot honey sauce until well coated.
  7. Assemble bowls with rice, broccoli, cucumbers, and carrots. Top with hot honey chicken.
  8. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Bake or air fry chicken for a lighter version.
  • Adjust hot sauce to make it more or less spicy.
  • Try quinoa or cauliflower rice as a base for a healthier bowl.
