A warm, cozy toast-style bread sweetened with maple syrup and studded with crunchy walnuts—perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 tbsp additional maple syrup (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, maple syrup, milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in chopped walnuts.
- Transfer batter to the loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While warm, brush the top with extra maple syrup for shine and flavor.
- Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, toast the walnuts before adding.
- Replace milk with almond milk for a dairy-light version.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm spice note.
- Delicious served with butter, cream cheese, or more maple syrup.
