Description

A warm, cozy toast-style bread sweetened with maple syrup and studded with crunchy walnuts—perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tbsp additional maple syrup (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, maple syrup, milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  6. Transfer batter to the loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. While warm, brush the top with extra maple syrup for shine and flavor.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toast the walnuts before adding.
  • Replace milk with almond milk for a dairy-light version.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm spice note.
  • Delicious served with butter, cream cheese, or more maple syrup.
