Description

A hearty mozzarella cheesesteak stromboli filled with tender steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and plenty of melted mozzarella, baked until golden and crispy.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 12 oz ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add sliced steak and cook quickly until just browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add bell pepper and onion and sauté until softened.
  5. Add garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Roll pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  7. Layer steak, vegetables, and mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a border.
  8. Roll dough tightly into a log and pinch seams to seal. Place seam-side down on baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with parmesan if using.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Slice steak thinly for the most tender bite.
  • You can add mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Letting the stromboli rest helps prevent cheese from spilling out.
