Description

These tender pork, apple, and sage meatballs are juicy, savory, and slightly sweet, making them perfect for a cozy dinner or appetizer. The combination of fresh sage and grated apple enhances the pork with a comforting autumnal flavor.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground pork
  • 1 medium apple, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped (or 1 tsp dried sage)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, grated apple, onion, garlic, sage, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add the meatballs in batches and cook for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with mashed potatoes, gravy, or a light apple sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon.
  • You can bake the meatballs at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes instead of frying.
  • These meatballs freeze well—store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
