Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls soaked in a rich tres leches mixture and topped with a lightly sweet whipped frosting. This indulgent dessert combines classic cinnamon roll warmth with the creamy decadence of tres leches cake.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) warm milk
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1 1/2 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle evenly over the surface.
  6. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and slice into 12 rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and 1/2 cup heavy cream.
  10. While rolls are still warm, poke small holes over the tops and slowly pour the tres leches mixture evenly over them. Let soak and cool completely.
  11. Whip the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  12. Spread whipped cream over cooled rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Allow the rolls to cool fully before adding whipped topping to prevent melting.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle cinnamon or drizzle caramel on top before serving.
  • Store refrigerated due to the milk mixture and consume within 3 days.
