Description

Soft buttery shortbread cookies topped with rich caramel and coated in smooth milk chocolate, recreating the iconic Twix candy bar in cookie form.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies or dulce de leche
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (if using caramel candies)
  • 12 oz milk chocolate, melted
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (optional, for smoother coating)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and flatten slightly, or shape into small rectangles for a more Twix-like look.
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
  6. If using caramel candies, melt them with heavy cream over low heat until smooth. Spread about 1 teaspoon caramel onto each cookie.
  7. Chill for 10 minutes to set the caramel.
  8. Melt milk chocolate and add vegetable oil if desired for smoother dipping.
  9. Dip each cookie into the melted chocolate or spoon chocolate over the top. Allow excess to drip off.
  10. Place cookies on parchment and let set at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.

  • Use dulce de leche for a thicker, richer caramel layer.
  • Freezes well for up to 2 months.
  • Try dark or white chocolate for variations.
